MDR relies on the participation of the diverse and enthusiastic voices that make up New York City and the larger community that is the 99%. We hope you will contribute!
As May Day is quickly approaching, we’re looking for volunteers in several areas who can hit the ground running to help us include as many voices as possible. Any contribution you can make during this time would be greatly appreciated.
Finished Content
If you and your friends have the tools and the know-how to produce your own pieces from start to finish, go for it! We are hoping to be on the air for a minimum of 2 days and we need diverse content. Send us your stuff! Please send finished content to Maydayradionyc@gmail.com.
Production
Do you have great idea for programming you'd like to hear on May Day Radio? Interested in conducting interviews with lots of interesting people? Programming could include anything from profiling one of the May Day coalition groups to a 2-minute short about what May Day means to you. We are committed to supporting a diversity of voices and we want to hear from you! So that you don't have to start from scratch if you don't want to, we've been compiling a list of reliable contacts in the groups organizing for May Day. We can help you link up with them to record your own piece. If you need equipment, we can help with that too. Just let us know.
Post-Production
Are you an editor or engineer? Do you know how to cut audio? We need folks to help us cut pre-recorded pieces that we can then post to our live stream in the days leading up to May 1. Could you lend us your time and your skills?
Dispatches from the Field
We need folks affiliated with specific actions and specific working groups on May Day to call in and give us reports and tactical information. If this is you, get in touch with us so that we can stay in touch on May Day and, hopefully, provide important information to our friends across the city.
National / International Call-ins
We would love to hear about May Day actions happening across the country and around the world! Please call our voicemail at +1 (646) 397-1637 and record a message describing an action happening in your city. You can call us on May 1st as it's happening or pre-record a short piece to inform us on what to expect from your community on May Day.
Deadline: April 22nd for uncut material. April 25th for completed works.
Format: MP3
Submission Guidelines:
Because our format allows for a diverse and fluid mix of live and pre-recorded content, we can accommodate pieces of varying lengths, though some may be further edited for ease of integration. For our broadcast on May Day, we’re especially interested in final pieces that run from 3 to 15 minutes in duration, though longer submissions are also very welcome. Content can include anything that you feel will help inspire, inform, entertain or connect people who are converging around May Day.
Email us with any questions and to receive our Dropbox info. If you need equipment, we can help with that too. Just let us know.
Please spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, and within your own communities!
